On May 17, comedian Jack Whitehall will be taking the reins over on BBC One while Graham prepares for the Eurovision Song Contest final in Israel.

It’s the first time in twenty years that the 56-year-old will miss a show as he heads to Tel Aviv while Jack plays host to guests Luke Evans, Paloma Faith and Gwendoline Christie.

Speaking about the shock revelation, Graham said, “I’m thrilled to know that I am leaving the show in Jack’s capable hands. He is bound to do an amazing job.”

Luckily, he’ll only be out of action for one week, adding, “I should warn him not to get too comfortable in my chair, though, because like a slightly fey terminator, I’ll be back!”

And the show has definitely been left in capable hands, as Jack, 30, has presented the Brit Awards for the past two years running.

“I was so honoured Graham asked me to do this for him,” he said.

“The thought of stepping into his huge showbiz boots fills me in equal measure with fear and excitement.

“Worst case, I will make everyone appreciate just how lucky we are to have him.”

Graham has also been the UK host of the Eurovision Song Contest for more than ten years.

As he prepares for the competition, Graham previously told BeyondtheJoke.com, “I watch all the rehearsals I can and listen to all the songs several times but you can’t really prepare for the night itself.

“There is something that happens during that live final that takes on a life of its own.”

He added, “Neither of the last two years winners seemed obvious until the night itself and suddenly there was an emotion that cut through and affected the whole audience.”
